Baseball Highlights Videos

Listen to me read this post.

Hello Sports fans.  Want to read, watch and listen to more about baseball? check out the webpage for major league baseball at mlb.com

There you will find lots of information about professional baseball including video highlights of different games.

Highlights are short videos of the most interesting plays of the game. Most of the videos are under 1 minute long because they show just one play or set of actions. You can find the videos by clicking on the video tab at the top of the home page.

I've included links to 2 videos that you will find there.  The first one is Nori Aoki of the Milwaukee Brewers hitting a homerun.   The title says it is a walk-off homer.  Homer is just a short way of saying homerun. And a walk-off homerun means it is the winning score of the game.  The game is in the final inning and the other team will not have the opportunity to score again because they already had their turn at bat. So, both teams walk off the field because the game is over.

The second video is Yonder Alonso of the San Diego Padres.  The batter hits the ball, Alonso stops the ball and then throws it to the person at first base to get the batter out.   I picked this video to show how an out is made like I told you in the Baseball Basics post.  The player must touch the base with the ball before the runner touches the base.  So, here you can see it in action.

You will see the action taking place and you will also hear the announcer describing the action. So, if you enjoy baseball and want to learn more about it and more importantly hear American English in action check it out.

Thanks for listening.  This has been Cassie Brenn at fastfoodenglish.blogspot.com.
