Baseball Song

Yesterday we talked about how a baseball game is played.  One team bats and the other team plays in the field, then they switch.  After each team takes a turn at bat we call this an inning.  A baseball game is made up of 9 innings.  Nine innings can take a while to play so we have a special tradition called the 7th inning stretch.  After the 7th inning everyone watching the game stands up and sings a special song together called Take Me Out to the Ball Game.

Here are the words:

Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out to the crowd,
Buy me some peanuts and cracker jacks,
I don't care if I ever get back,
Oh it's root, root, root for the home team,
If they don't win it's a shame,
For it's one, two, three strikes you're out
at the ol' ball game.

I have posted 2 videos of this song for you to watch.  The first one is from a professional baseball game and shows the audience singing.  The words are on the bottom of the screen so you can sing along too.   It's just like Karoke!   The person leading the song is a famous sports announcer named Harry Caray.  In this video they replace the words home team with Cubbies, a nickname for the Chicago Cubs.

The second video is a professional version of the song but it's set to videos from a boy's team and has some nice shots of kids playing baseball.  So, check it out.

Thanks for listening.  This has been Cassie Brenn for fastfoodenglish.blogspot.com.
