Museums in Washington, DC

Listen to me read this post

One of the best things about a visit to Washington, DC is that many of the attractions are free.

That includes all of the museums and art galleries of the Smithsonian Institute. and with 19 of them to choose from you can spend several days visiting them all.

Many of the museums are conveniently located close to each other on a wide strip of grass in downtown DC called the National Mall.

That is where you will find my favorite museum - The National Museum of American History.

Not only will you learn about the history of the United States but also about the culture.  You can see Dorothy's Ruby Slippers from the movie The Wizard of Oz or Ball Gowns worn by the wives of the United States Presidents.

Another one of my favorite museums is The Air and Space Museum.

Here you will see rockets, space craft, and airplanes on display.  Including one of the original aircraft that first flew  - the 1903 Wright Flyer built by Wilbur and Orville Wright.

Check out the museums websites at
americanhistory.si.edu,
airandspace.si.edu  or one of the many other museums and art galleries belonging to the Smithsonian Institute at www.si.edu  All of these websites are in the show notes.  So be sure to check them out.

Thanks for listening.  This has been Cassie Brenn for fastfoodenglish.blogspot.com
