Visit the National Zoo

Listen to me read this post

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!  The National Zoo in Washington DC has them all.  And you can see them for free.

The Zoo is open every day of the year except December 25 (Christmas).

Plan on spending most of the day at the zoo because the park is 163 acres big.  That's about twice the size of Disneyland in California.  And there are so many really cool animals to see, you won't want to miss a single one.

The exhibits at the National Zoo are more than just simple cages.  You will see animals walking around large areas that mimick their natural environments.  You can see Organtans swinging on ropes above your head from one building to another.  Many of the exhibits have glass panels so you can take a picture inches from a Giant Panda.

This spring has been especially exciting at the National Zoo because there has been a baby boom!  A boom is a word to describe a sudden rapid growth and in this case the zoo is experiencing a sudden rapid growth in the number of baby animals.  How cute is that!  The new arrivals include 2 baby cheetahs, twin fishing cats, a baby black howler monkey and dozens of chicks in the bird exhibit.

By the way, did you get "Lions and tigers and bears, Oh my!"  that's from the movie The Wizard of Oz.

If you are planning a trip to Washington, DC be sure to visit the National Zoo.  Learn more about the Zoo on their website at nationalzoo.si.edu.

Thanks for listening.  This has been Cassie Brenn for fastfoodenglish.blogspot.com.
